Asbestos Surveying
The Project
Carillion Plc was appointed the principle contractor to undertake a Public Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme of the Swarcliffe Estate, Leeds on behalf of Leeds City Council.
The aim of the project which involved asbestos surveys, was to upgrade approximately 1300 domestic properties as part of the government’s 2010 decency scheme and the continued provision of estate management and maintenance services for a period of years following the initial site work.
The decency improvements were scheduled initially for approximately two and a half years but following a sustained push from all Carillion site teams the target completion date was brought forward to be completed in early 2009.

Working closely with project leaders and a series of site managers their Ossett Branch co-ordinated all aspects of asbestos surveying across the estate to ensure that all teams had asbestos survey data in advance of planned site work to allow all renovation works to progress without delays and ensuring minimal tenant disruption.
Due to the project deadlines being brought forward they have had to overcome tight timescale constraints to ensure the progression of the scheme was not held up and that all survey reports were delivered on time and to order.
Bradley Environmental are now an established, fully accredited subcontractor that is permitted to work on any Carillion project throughout the country.'
